What you'll learn

  • Chest X-ray essentials: ABCDE approach for ICU/ER, recognizing pneumothorax, consolidation, effusions, ARDS, and assessing tube and line placements.
  • Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS): Lung (A/B lines, PLAPS, pneumothorax), cardiac (IVC, LV function, pericardial effusion), and FAST scan in trauma.
  • CT and MRI Basics: CT Head (bleed, infarct, raised ICP), CT Chest/Abdomen (PE, obstruction, appendicitis), and MRI essentials (when and how to interpret).
  • Clinical Imaging Algorithms: Approach to dyspnea, altered sensorium, acute abdomen, imaging in sepsis/shock, and red flag signs needing urgent escalation.
  • Hands-On Interpretation Practice: Case-based quizzes, radiologist-led review sessions, and confidence-building in identifying urgent findings.

Key Goals

  • Develop a working knowledge of commonly used imaging modalities (CXR, POCUS, CT, MRI).
  • Identify life-threatening findings quickly on common emergency and ICU imaging.
  • Correlate imaging findings with clinical syndromes.
  • Avoid common pitfalls in misinterpretation and overdependence on radiology reports.
